About Us
New Millennium Children's School, run by NEW MILLENNIUM EDUCATION FOUNDATION, was in the year 2000, by Venerable Thubstan Wangchuk with the aim of providing education to the children of far-flung area of Ladakh who belonged mostly to the Scheduled Tribe Community. It is a residential school located in Leh district of UT Ladakh.
Venerable Thubstan Wangchuk envisioned a school where children belonging to very poor families or Nomadic families who come from very remote border areas of Ladakh namely Zanskar, Changthang and Nubra Valley, especially from Waris Phastan, Largyab, Sunodo, Patsathang, Khema Khyungrung, Digar-Tangyar, Rakuru, etc., In some of the aforementioned villages, there is no connectivity of roads, electricity, internet, etc. The purpose is to ensure children from these regions would have access to everything, to pursue a quality education.
New Millennium Children’s School sponsors the education and hostel facility of children who come from extremely poor backgrounds and it provides education on concessional fees to those children coming from Scheduled Tribe backgrounds with comparatively better economic conditions. New Millennium Education Foundation is sponsored majorly by the Eco Himal Society in Switzerland. The school has pre-nursery, nursery, LKG, and UKG, and the junior classes use the Montessori method of teaching.
The middle school starting from 1st standard up to 8th standard follows the CBSE curriculum method. Currently, the school has 170 resident children and a few day scholars.
